7 Benefits of Facials!
You’ve seen videos, heard great things from your friends, and even looked into booking an appointment, but are there really benefits to getting regular facials? As and esthetician, of course I have a biased opinion and suggest everyone get regular facials! However don’t just take my word for it, check out these 7 benefits of getting a facial!
7 Benefits of Getting a Facial
Increase Circulation
Detoxify the Skin
Proper Extractions
Promote Skin Rejuvenation
Relieve Stress
Create a Better Routine
Anti-Aging
Increase Circulation
Facial massage and the spreading movements of products help to increase blood circulation in the skin. This provides our skin cells with more oxygen and nourishment which then improves cell regeneration. In other words, increased circulation equals healthy skin cells.
Detoxify the Skin
Removing toxins from the skin is essential for proper skin health. The free radicals that naturally occur in our body and the environment can cause some serious damage. They are responsible for breaking down our collagen, some illnesses, and other signs of aging. The products used in a spa setting are often packed with antioxidants which attack the unwanted free radicals. Antioxidants are great for reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation!
Proper Extractions
Improper poking, picking, and squeezing can lead to broken capillaries, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. This is why proper knowledge of how to extract blackheads, white heads, and pustules is highly important. Removing any congestion will help clear the skin! So keep those hands off your face and ask your esthetician to do some extractions during your next facial!
Promote Skin Rejuvenation
Through exfoliation and deep cleansing we improve the regeneration of our skin cells! Gentle exfoliation and deep cleansing help to slough off dead skin cells so that newer healthier cells can reach the outermost layers of our skin. This leaves us with more supple, brighter, younger looking skin.
Relieve Stress
Our faces have many pressure points, and when those points are triggered during facial massage our nervous system is stimulated. Human touch has been proven to increase levels of serotonin, oxytocin, and reduce levels of cortisol. The “happy” endorphins then create a sensation of relaxation and peace. With lower levels of cortisol we experience reduced congestion and signs of aging and an overall improved mental state.
Create a Better Routine
Client consultations are a regular part of the facial service. These consultations help to gain a better understanding of your skin goals and concerns. Once your esthetician has a clearer understanding of the state of your skin proper product recommendations and routine can be discussed. Truthfully, without a suitable routine your skin goals will be very hard to reach. At home care is the most important factor to healthy and happy skin.
Anti-Aging
Increased circulation, detoxification, proper extractions, cleansing, exfoliation, stress relief, and a proper routine all help to reduce signs of aging! Each is great on their own, but when combined together in one service you maximize the benefits your skin receives.
The benefits to facials are endless! I truly believe in the healing power they have for the mind and body, which is why facials are one of my favorite services I offer!
Until next time,
