Prep for Your Sugaring Appointment!
Welcome back! So now that we know what body sugaring is and some of the amazing benefits, let’s dive into how to best prepare for your sugaring appointment! Proper preparation can make all the difference for your experience and post sugaring results.
Sugaring Prep:
Be sure your hair is at least 1/4” long (about the size of a grain of rice). To get the best extraction the hair needs to be grown out. If the hair seems too long to you in-between appointments you can always trim. Trimming the hair is always better than shaving because it won’t alter the hair growth cycle.
Stop using physical and chemical exfoliators at least 2 days prior to your appointment. Sugaring is a gentle exfoliation on its own so you don’t want to over exfoliate to irritate the skin.
Avoid the use of lotions or oils the day of the appointment. The cleaner the skin the better the extraction. Any creams of lotions can coat the hair and lead to improper grip from the sugar.
Avoid caffeine! Caffeine is a stimulant and can actually cause more sensitivity during your service.
Avoid sun exposure! Even if there is no burn, sun exposure, increases your chances of irritation post sugaring.
Remember pain is temporary! Any form of hair removal does cause discomfort, but many of my clients and I believe the short term sting is worth the glorious benefits!
